Fundamentals of Real Estate

Building the Right Foundation

Understand your market, your renters, and the professionals needed to succeed

In our Fundamentals of Real Estate Investing class, we teach investors to approach real estate as a true business—not a side hobby. Success starts with understanding three essentials: the right customers, the right product, and the right team. In real estate, your customers are your renters, so identifying who you want to serve—whether individuals, families, seniors, students, or specialized housing needs—comes first. From there, we focus on selecting properties that best meet those needs and learning how to identify markets where demand is strong and supply is limited, creating opportunities for higher returns.

The class also emphasizes the importance of building a strong professional team, including experienced real estate attorneys, CPAs, lenders, bankers, and property managers—ideally professionals who are investors themselves and have successfully navigated multiple market cycles. By learning from those who have weathered both strong and challenging markets, students gain the foundation needed to build sustainable, long-term success in real estate investing.
